3.4 percent more women join IIM Lucknow this year
The new post graduate program batch at IIM-L has more women in comparison to the last year. This year there are 156 women candidates in the batch out of total of 451, which is 30.4 percent. Last year there were only 27 percent women candidates. The batch of 2013-18 however, had 38% female candidates, an official said.More female students on the campus reflects more diversity without compromising on the merit. “This is a good sign. More participation of women students brings diversity and adds different perspective as well,” said IIM Lucknow director Ajit Prasad while talking to HT. IIM-L said that it was looking forward to have a diverse class in terms of gender, background and prior work experience and they are happy because the institute has been successful to some extent in its objective but, still there are many steps which institute needs to take to create a real diverse environment. The average work experience of the batch has also increased from 11.3 months to 16.6 months, which means that everyone has some prior work experience.Recently, IIM-L concluded the induction program for the new batch and during the induction program, the crowd of 450 new students was addressed by the guest of honor, Niraj Seth, who is executive vice-president of naukri.com and IIM Luckow’s noted alumnus Lakshmi Narayan, chief endowment officer of Azim Premji Foundation.
