The Joint Entrance Exam for the year 2017 was conducted by IIT Madras on May 21 successfully and according to the inputs from experts ad students this year exam was a bit lengthy and tricky.The national level exam was conducted by the IIT Madras for admission into various undergraduate programs in IITs located in: Bhubaneswar,Bombay, DelhiGandhinagarGuwahatiHyderabadIndoreJodhpurKanpurKharagpurMandiMadrasPalakkadPatnaRoparRoorkee,TirupatiBanaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU) Varanasi andIndian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad Student’s Reaction After giving the exams students interacted with the media and said “ In paper 2, Physics questions were difficult while Mathematics part was bit tricky”. But, students are expecting to score above 150 marks in the exam.In the paper there was a mix of single choice, multiple choice and passage type single choice questions. For single choice questions, students will be awarded 3 marks for correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for the incorrect answer.For multiple choice questions students will be given 4 marks for the correct answer, 1 mark for the partially correct answer and 2 marks will be deducted for the incorrect answers.For passage type single choice questions students will be given 3 marks for the correct answer and there is no negative marking for the incorrect answer.PhysicsPhysics ranged between moderate to difficult though, compared to last year the section was easy. Majority of questions in the section were conceptual and to solve them students must have strong basics.ChemistryChemistry was relatively easy this year in comparison to the last year and contained question which were a mix of conceptual and formula based questions.MathIn comparison to last year, the math section was relatively easy and majority of questions in the subject were based on concepts and remaining required the use of facts and formulae. The board will take extreme care in grading the ORS and will soon display them on the online portal along with the machine read responses. The keys for both the papers will soon be made available online on the official site jeeadv.nic.in.
